Agua Limpa from Kaffeverk

Francisco Sergio de Asis - Fazenda Agua Limpa

Fazenda Água Limpa shows an exemplary level of commitment to sustainability and works in harmony with the natural environment.

The Alto Paranaíba area is believed to occupy the land of an extinct volcano, and the micro-region's altitude of almost 1,200 meters above sea level makes it very suitable for coffee production. The plateau can be seen in this aerial photo below.

Born in Paranavaí, Francisco trained as an agronomist in Bandeirantes, PR. He moved to the Cerrado where he found available land. He married and became a partner with his father-in-law and together they bought a farm in Monte Carmelo, Cerrado Mineiro region.

In the beginning, due to a lack of resources and infrastructure, he and his wife loaded the trucks themselves, delivered the coffee and looked for employees.

His motto was always to honor commitments. By having good credit he was able to take out loans and combined with the sale of his harvest he was able to buy more land.

Despite periods when the price of coffee fell, he maintained stability in the market.
He invested in technologies and became the forerunner and innovator in the "Zero Harvest" (pruning) production process. Through his education, he has continued to innovate within coffee cultivation and this has resulted, among other things, in him being awarded recognition for all his work, he was awarded the Illy Award (Quality of Espresso in MG).
