Chemex 6 cup coffee maker

The Chemex jugs were designed in 1941 by the German-born Peter J. Schlumbohm. He was educated as a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Berlin and in 1936 had moved to New York City, where he worked and lived for the rest of his life. Peter J. Schlumbohm had a long background in the work of filtering and extracting in the laboratory. He used this knowledge to develop the Chemex coffee pots. He modified the shape of a traditional flask and ended up with the result we have today in the unique design of Chemex jugs. All jugs are made of heat resistant glass.

Over the years, these amazingly beautiful pitchers have received many awards in the United States. Among other things, the jugs can be seen at the Museum of Modern Art in New York
